Moreover, different welcome, integration and inclusion processes based on different legislation, praxis and public systems and its formal and informal networks pose even more difficult challenges to be approched. In its strategies The City of Trollhättan has states that ”integration of people of different ethnic backgrounds is fundamental as a prerequisite for creating an inclusive society and a city with a positive living environment and a bright future”. To achieve this vision, there is a specific need to create a cooperation in-between a variety of parties both at local, regional, and national levels as well as an international level.

PARTNERS INVOLVED

Local government has a long tradition in Sweden. The country’s municipalities, county councils and regions are responsible for providing a significant proportion of all public services. Municipalities have a considerable degree of autonomy and have independent powers of taxation. Local self-government and the right to levy taxes are stipulated in the Instrument of Government, one of the four pillars of the Swedish Constitution. The city of Trollhattan has 58 000 inhabitants and is located on the west coast of Sweden by the river Gota. As an employer Trollhättans has approx 4500 employees which make it one of the biggest public employers in the area.
